24_luglio_014The day starts with a strong sense of silent sadness for the news that arrived from the Philippines: around 7:00 A.M. in Italy, from the Seminary in Merville (Parañaque City), the beloved Fr. Giuseppe Aveni left for Paradise, at the venerable age of 92, 73 years of religious life and 65 of priesthood. Fr. Aveni is the master of the novices par excellence of the Congregation, having played the role for many years starting when he was still much younger both in Italy and in the Philippines from the beginning of the 80's. The Eucharistic celebration presided by Fr. Bruno Rampazzo, superior of the Philippine Delegation, was offered in his memory. With essential strokes Fr. Rampazzo remembered the beloved confrere, his virtues, his solid attachment to the Congregation and the Founder, his constant attention to the life and works of the Congregation, his great capacity of listening and spiritual guidance, his systematic reading of news and facts regarding the life of St. Hannibal which he did until the last day. The sorrow of the lost is transformed to the certainty that Father Aveni is in the hands and the peace of the Lord whom he loved so much on earth, together with the Virgin Mary and Saint Hannibal. In the same celebration Fr. Gilson Maja of the Latin-American Province shared the reflection during the Holy Mass in Portuguese. Back at the Hall, the examination of the draft of the Commission on the structure and the Government of the Congregation resumes. See photos of the day.
